The famous bridge, popularly known as the Hanging Bridge , joins the municipalities of Getxo and Portugalete, at the mouth of the Ibaizabal River.

The bridge was designed by Alberto Palacio y Elissage, in 1893, being the first with a suspension ferry. Today it has a basket that was inaugurated in 1998 and that is used for the transport of pedestrians and vehicles.

From the upper walkway, 50 meters high, you can enjoy panoramic views.
An unbeatable perspective is achieved by crossing from one side of the estuary to the other, by boat.

In 2007 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the category of Industrial Heritage, given its symbolic character for both Bizkaia and Euskal Herria.
