It is one of the symbols of the new Bilbao, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is one of the most ambitious cultural projects of the 20th century worldwide
The museum’s permanent collection includes works by leading artists from the past four decades and is supplemented by holdings from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and special programming. Some of the museum’s rooms are dedicated to monographic productions and others house works made expressly for the museum.
The museum houses works by some of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century, such as Eduardo Chillida, Yves Klein, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Clyfford Still, Antoni Tapies and Andry Warhol, among others. .
Regarding the permanent exhibitions, the following works stand out: The Matter of Time, by Richard Serra, Installation for Bilbao, by Jenny Holzer, Puppy by Jeff Koons, Fuente de Fuego, by Yves Klein, Mama by Louise Bourgeois, Tulipanes, by Jeff Koons, Arcos Rojos, by Daniel Buren or Fog Sculpture, by Fujiko Nakaya.

From 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Closed on Mondays, except on: January 4, March 29, April 5, June 21 and 28, every Monday in July and August, September 6 and 13, October 11, November 1, 6 and 27 from December.
The Museum is closed on December 25 and January 1.
Visit the Guggenheim Bilbao from Sopela
By subway . 34 minutes every 20 minutes.
It is taken by metro at any of the two stops in Sopela (Sopela and Larrabasterra), getting off at the Moyua station in Bilbao.
From the Moyua station to the Guggenheim museum there are 940 m. (10 minutes walk)
By bus . 1-2 hours
Take the Bizkaiabus line A3451, at the Eliza / Iglesia stop, to the Bizkaia Zubia / Bizkaia Bridge stop, in Getxo. The journey takes 20 minutes every hour.
At the indicated stop, take the Bizkaibus line A3411 to Museo Plaza, in Bilbao. The journey takes 35 minutes every 30 minutes.
From Museo Plaza to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao there are 490 m. (5 minute walk)
By car or by taxi . 18 minutes for a distance of 20 km.
